Arlene Spahn

Mrs. Arlene Anna Spahn, 78, of Altoona, died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Maybrook Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.

Mrs. Spahn was born in Sinking Valley, Altoona on December 12, 1938, daughter of the late John R. and Clara (Pielmeier) Frederick. She married Jacob G. "Jack" Spahn, Jr. on January 3, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona.

She retired in 2013 as a self-employed owner at Spahn Accounting and Notary of Altoona with 50 years of service. She previously had work at Vincent Horowitz Shoe Factory.

She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church Altoona.

Arlene was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School and a 1957 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. She was a member of Casey Jones Locomovers Camping Club. She enjoyed flower gardens, reading cook books, cooking for friends and family. Arlene also enjoyed decorating her home for all the different seasons.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two children, Randy G. (Dena) Spahn and Lori A. (Dave) Cummings; a daughter-in-law Tina A. Spahn all of Altoona; three siblings, Raymond Frederick of Hollidaysburg; and Herman (Ruth Ann) Frederick and Florence (Paul) Perrin both of Altoona. Arlene is survived by five grandchildren, Timothy J. Spahn II, Lindsey (Michael) Beeney, Lauren Spahn, Jared Cumming and Alyssa Cumming and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Timothy John Spahn Sr., a sister and brother-in-law Marie and Charles Tremmel, and a sister-in-law Alice Frederick.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church, Altoona at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 with Msgr. Timothy Stein officiating.

Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.

Friends will be received Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home where a vigil for the deceased will be held during the visitation.
