Barbara Kitzing

Mrs. Barbara Joan Kitzing, a 90, of Altoona, Pa passed away at 12:10 PM, Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Altoona Center for Nursing Care after an extended illness.

Barbara was born in Altoona, Pa on May 9, 1930, daughter of the late Fred and Dorothy (Copenhaver) Weiss. She married Armond Kitzing.

She retired in 1993 as a Registered Nurse at Altoona Hospital, after 25 years of service. She also worked for Home Nursing Agency for 5 years.

She was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church.

Barbara was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a member of the last graduating class of Allegheny  General Hospital School of Nursing, September 29, 1950. Her 4 daughters, sons-in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her life.

She is survived by Armound (Kay) Kitzing of Arizona and 4 daughters Linda K. (John) Allender, of Altoona, Susan K. (David) Graham, of Harrisburg, Pa; Mary Anne (Bob) Hollingsworth and Dottie M. (Leo) Murray, both of Altoona, Pa; step sister Rosa (George) Pirowmoff, of Copple, TX; close family friend Mary C. Hollingsworth, of Altoona, Pa. Barbara is also survived by 13 grandchildren Andrew (Kyrah) Allender, Matthew (Mallory) Allender, Joshua, and Chad Allender, Zachary and Alex Graham, Jacob (Keely) Hollingsworth, Tyler (Abby) Hollingsworth, Emilee and Alyson Hollingsworth, Alexis, Luke and Kyle Murray, 2 great granddaughters Riley and Reegan Allender.

A special thank you to the Altoona Center for Nursing Care, Home Agency and Grane Hospice Staff for the wonderful care and compassion you gave our mother and grandma.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, October 30, 2020 at Providence Presbyterian Church, 2401 Broad Avenue, Altoona, Pa with Andrew J. Allender officiating.

Friends will be received Friday, October 30, 2020 at Providence Presbyterian Church from 10-11 AM.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Altoona Center for Nursing Care, Grane Hospice or the Home Nursing Agency.
