Catherine M. Nagle, 99 of Altoona died early Saturday morning October 28, 2017 at Garvey Manor Nursing Home.
She was born March 8, 1918 in Altoona a daughter of the late Edward B. and Mary (McNulty) Miller. She married Robert J. Nagle on April 15, 1947 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. He preceded her in death February 6, 1992.
Surviving are a granddaughter Jennifer L. Nagle of Mt. Airy, MD; several nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela J. Nagle.
Catherine was preceded in death by three sons, Anthony R. Nagle, Patrick J. Nagle and Timothy B. Nagle; and a sister, Ethel Crawford.
Mrs. Nagle was a life-long member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and a former member of the Omega Club at Penelec.
She was a 1936 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1939 graduate of Altoona Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.
Catherine was a U.S. Army Nurse Corps World War II veteran attaining the rank of First Lieutenant serving in the European Theatre, Rhineland and Naples-Foggia from March 1942 until February 1946.
Following her war service, Catherine was a homemaker and volunteer at Altoona Central Catholic School in the library for over 29 years.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Monday October 30, 2017 at Jones Funeral Home, 1222 Thirteenth Avenue, Altoona where a vigil service for the deceased will be held during the viewing.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday October 31, 2017 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament with Monsignor Robert C. Mazur, celebrant. Graveside committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona with military honors to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, One Cathedral Square, Altoona, PA 16601.
