Christ W. Arseniu, 79, of Altoona, Pa died at 1:40 PM, Monday, February 18, 2019 at UPMC – Altoona after a brief illness.

Mr. Arseniu was born in Altoona, Pa on June 5, 1939, son of the late William P. and Genevieve (Zosimas) Arseniu. He married Janet L. DeSantes May 2, 1971. She preceded him in death January 16, 1987.

He was a Code Officer at Antis Township. Christ previously worked as a Building Inspector for the City of Altoona and worked at Hayes & Large Architects.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Altoona, Pa where he served as a cantor and subdeacon.

Christ was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School and did post graduate educational courses. He was a member of Alto Model Train Museum Association. He was a model train enthusiast.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by a son Jason C. (Stephanie) of Harleysville, Pa, Christ is also survived by 3 granddaughters and a grandson 2 nieces Karen Pappas and Joanne Arseniu and a nephew Billy Arseniu, 2 grand nephews Donald Hirt and Matthew (Kelly) Hirt a great great niece Lexi Hirt He was preceded in death by a daughter Christa Pipta, 2 sisters Catherine Pappas and Eva Arseniu and a bother George Arseniu.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Altoona, Pa at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 22, 2019 with Fr. Joseph Cervo officiating.

Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery Altoona, Pa.

Friends will be received Thursday, February 21, from 5-7 PM at Jones Funeral Home.
