Mr. David A. Berger, Sr. 75, of Altoona, died Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center after an extended illness.
Dave was born in Altoona, Pa on February 22, 1945, son of the late Anthony P. and Mildred F. (Trexler) Berger. He married Dorothy L. Anthony December 27, 1969 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. She proceed him in death April 15, 2019.
He retired in 2010 as an Inside salesperson at U.S. Food Service formerly Sky Brothers with 29 years of service.
He was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona, Pa.
Dave was 1963 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and received an Associate Degree from Penn State University.
He was member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood. He enjoyed and watching sports especially the Pirates, Steelers and Penn State. Dave took great pride in taking care of his property and hosting Thanksgiving dinners for his family. He will be missed by all if his friends.
Dave is survived by three children Christopher M. (Ann Byrne) Berger, of Gettysburg, Pa; David A. Berger Jr. of Cortland, NY; and Mary Elizabeth (former husband Anthony) Bambocci, of Altoona, Pa; 5 siblings Christina Glass, of Cresson, Pa; Patricia (Harry) Carothers, of McVeytown, Pa; George (Beth) Berger, of Altoona, Pa; Susan (Robert) Kyle, of State College, Pa and Catherine (Clifford) Drury, of Altoona, Pa. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren numerous nieces and nephew.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, Pa with Msgr. Stanley B. Carson Celebrant.
Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.
A Memorial Service is planned for a later date due to COVID-19.
