Eugene E. “Gene” Stoltz Sr. 84, of Altoona, Pa, died peacefully at 1:18 PM, Sunday, October 13, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at his home after an extended illness.
Gene was born in Patton, Pa on June 19, 1935, son of the late Maurice and Mary (Huber) Stoltz. He was twice married, first to Anna Storm who preceded him in death and then to Barbara Goss, February 24, 1968 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. He retired in 2003 as a Maintenance Supervisor at Amtran, Altoona.
He was a member of St. Rose Of Lima Church Altoona, Pa.
Eugene was a 1953 graduate of Patton Chest High School. He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society. Gene was generous with time and talent and was “Mr. Fixit” for family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling and attending special events of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife and 12 children Gene E. (Sue) Stoltz Jr. of Watkinsville, GA; Anita (Charles) Hirschy, of Oak Ridge, TN; Andrew (Mary) Stoltz, of Lancaster, Pa; Donald (Diane) Stoltz of Lititz, Pa; Diana (Craig) Irwin of Tyrone, Pa; Joanne (Larry) Myers, of Rittman, OH; Scott (Chris) Stoltz, of Harrisburg, Pa; Robert (Allison) Stoltz, of Chesterfield, VA; Jeanne Danison, of Altoona, Pa; Melissa (J.R.) Greene, of Lewisbury, Pa; Julie (Greg) Ramsey, of Elizabethtown, Pa; Molly (Tony) DelCollo, of Etters, Pa; 31 grand and 21 greatgrandchildren 2 sisters Margaret Hambly, of Slippery Rock, Pa and Ruth Miller, of Streetsboro, OH. He was preceded by his first wife Anna L. Storm, a grandson Isaac Myers 3 brothers Patrick, Joseph and Al Stoltz 3 sisters Rosalia Gill, Marie Dillion and Regina Litzinger.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 19, 2019 at St. Rose Of Lima Church, Altoona, Pa with Fr. Brian Saylor Celebrant.
Committal Rites will be held at St. Augustine Cemetery, St. Augustine, Pa.
Friends will be received Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 3-8 PM at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Garvey Manor Nursing Home 128 Logan Blvd. Hollidaysburg, Pa 16648 or St. Rose of Lima Church 5519 – 6th Ave. Altoona, Pa 16602 or for Masses.
