Frances J. McConnell

Frances “Fran” J. McConnell, 65, Altoona, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at UPMC Altoona.  Born September 21, 1958, Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Paul and Edna (McCue) Pizzitola.  Preceded in death by brothers, Vito and Edward Pizzitola; sister, Mary Pizzitola; and son, Charles Softy.  Survived by her husband, Robert McConnell of Altoona; son, Jerry Softy of Florida; sister-in-law, Beverly (Ed) Wilk of Lilly; brother-in-law, Dennis (Becky) McConnell of Wyoming; nephew, Edward (Cathy) Wilk of Altoona; niece, Anne (Steven) Noland of Cassandra; great nieces, Haley Noland of Cassandra, and Ashely Daley of Altoona; and many other nieces and nephews from throughout the country from the Pizzitola side of her family. Fran worked several jobs in her lifetime including working at the Commerce Clearinghouse in New Jersey, the Sankertown Water and Sewer Authority as a secretary, Roberts Beverage, Cenveo Envelope, and Weis Market. Fran loved animals, especially her two cats, Bubby and Willie. She also enjoyed watching the cardinals outside while they ate from her bird feeder. In her spare time, Fran loved reading and watching true crime shows on television. Most of all, she adored spending time with her family. At her request, there will be no viewing. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, 4771 E. Loop Rd., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
