Fred Glover

Mr. Fred O. Glover, 98, Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, formerly of 1958 Bellmeade Dr Altoona died Thursday evening, October 22, 2015 at the Manor.

Mr. Glover was born in Altoona, Pa. on September 18, 1917, son of the late Frederick A. and Marie C. (Loibl) Glover. He married Isabelle Casciotti June 25, 1949 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.

He retired May 29, 1981 as a machinist at Conrail with 44 years and 3 months of service.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona.

Fred was a 1936 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and received an Associate Degree from Penn State Altoona. He was a member of IAIA Post American Legion, the Bavarian Aid Society and was a life member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

He enjoyed oil painting, tinkering, woodworking and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Penn State, Bishop Guilfoyle High and Altoona High football fan.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a Sgt in WWll. and received a Good Conduct Medal, Meritorius Unit Award, American Theatre Service Medal, Mediterranian Theatre Medal and Victory Medal.

He is survived by his wife and 2 daughters Susan Marie Glover, of Allentown, Pa and Sharon A. Cox, of Hollidaysburg, Pa a grandson Jeremiah Cox and great granddaughter Victoria lsabell Cox.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, October 29, 2015 at St. Joseph Chapel at Garvey Manor.

Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.

Friends will be received 9:00 AM to 10:00 Funeral time at St. Joseph Chapel at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg.
