Helen Christodoulos

Ms. Helen M, Christodoulos, 86 of Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Colonial Plaza, Altoona died Sunday eveing, September 18, 2016 at UPMC - Altoona after a brief illness.

Ms. Christodoulos was born in Altoona, Pa. on April 9, 1930, daughter of the late Adam and Mary (Khoury) Christodoulos.

She retired as an Elementry School Teacher in June 1993 from Altoona Area School Districy Altoona with 28 years of service.

She was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox and St. George Antiochian Churches Altoona, Pa.

Helen was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1968 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementry Education and a Masters Degree in Educational Counseling 1971.

She was a member of the Ivyside Society, the Altoona Symphony League, the Blair County Chapter of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Altoona Hospital Auxiliary, and life member of Penn State University Alumni Association .

She had been a board member of the Penn State Altoona Alumni Association, the Hollidaysburg YMCA and the Altoona Friends of the Library. She received the 2005 Altoona YWCA Humanitarian / Volunteer Award and Donated and dedicated a gazebo in memory of her parents at PSU Alttona.

Helen enjoyed traveling, knitting, crochetting, sewing and everything Penn State.

She is survived by a bother Charles Crist, of St. Petersburg, FL. Helen is also survived by many nieces and nephews. she was preceded in death by 2 sister and 3 bothers Eve Hughes, and Freida Batrus and Sam Nasrella, James Nasralla and Harry Crist.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at St. George Antiochian Church, Altoona at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 22, 2016 with Fr. Joseph Gereige officiating.

Interment will be private at Grandviwe Cemetery Altoona, Pa.

Friends will be received from 4 - 7 PM Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the Jones Funeral Home where a Trisagion service will be held at 6:00 PM.
