Helen Dearmitt

Helen L. (Shalock) DeArmitt, 73, of Bellmeade, Altoona, Pa died Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at her residence after an extended illness.

Mrs. DeArmitt was born in Bellwood, Pa on July 23, 1946, daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (Padula) Shalock. She married Robert G. DeArmitt February 10, 1964 in Altoona. He died December 12, 2004.

Helen was a past waitress at Keg & Butcherblock in Altoona with 4 years of service and a banquet waitress at Opreyland Hotel, Nashville, TN.

She was a past member of St. James Lutheran Church Altoona, Pa.

Helen was a  graduate of Altoona Area High School. She enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren, baking and cooking.

She is survived by 3 children Robert G. (Sonya) DeArmitt Jr. of Bellwood, Pa; La Cinda L. (Dan) Brooks, of Duncansville, Pa; Christine A. Stolta, of Morgantown, NC; 4 siblings Michael J. Shalock, of Milwauke, WI; Dorothy Singer, of Altoona, Pa; Julia Duchrow, of Altoona; and Patricia Carrieri, of Altoona, Pa. Helen is also survived by 7 grandchildren Allen Norris, Lindsey Page, Grant DeArmitt, Claire DeArmitt, Max DeArmitt, Tyler Hammel and Emily Roberts. She was preceded in death by a son Brain DeArmitt July 19, 1974.

Services are private at the convenience of family. There will be no public visitation.

Interment at Logan Valley Cemetery Bellwood, Pa.
