Mr. Howard Samuel Albright, 94, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, died Friday morning at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, after an extended illness. He was born in Mount Union, son of the late Aaron and Eva (Dugann) Albright. On March 27, 1960, he married Helen Elizabeth Rourke in Berkley Springs, W.Va. She preceded him in death Dec. 12, 2006.
Howard retired in 1984 as night manager at A&P Tea Co., with 36 years of service.
He graduated from Green Township High School in Claysburg.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class in WWII. He received the WWII Victory Medal for Officer in Charge, American Theater ribbon and Victory Medal. He was a life member of the Bavarian Aid Society and enjoyed his grandchildren and woodworking.
Howard is survived by three sons, Craig D. (Vicki) Albright, retired MSgt Howard P. (Brenda) Albright and Michael (Peggy) Albright, all of Altoona; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Stuppio on Nov. 8, 1999, and a brother, Duane Albright.
There will be no visitation or services due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Interment was held at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
