James Paul Leonard Sr., 64, of Claysburg, Pa., died at 8:47 PM, Saturday, June 4, 2016 at UPMC - Altoona, Pa., as a result of injuries in an accident.
Mr. Leonard was born in Roaring Spring, Pa. on November 15, 1951, son of the late James Ernest and Pearl E. (Roub) Leonard.
He retired in 2004 as a truck driver instructor at Schneider Trucking with 5 years of service. He previously served as a policeman and then a Chief of Police for Saxton Borough for 10 years.
Jim was a 1969 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School. He was a member of Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA). American Legion 113 and the Veterans of Foreign War. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, "do it youself building projects, stock car racing and demolition derbys.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman in the Vietnam War.
He is survived by 3 children Michelle L. Black of Claysburg, Pa. James Paul (Jennie) Leonard Jr. of Altoona, Pa; and Danille N. (Mike) Lattieri, of Altoona, Pa; 12 grandchildren and a sister Cheryl Pasierb, of Germantown, MD.
A Military Service will be conducted by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard at Jones Funeral Home, Altoona, Pa. at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.
Friends will be received Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM at Jones Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) Laurel Highlands Chapter P.O. Box 199 Bedford, Pa. 15522.
