Jean Herbert

Mrs. Jean L. Herbert, 92, of 301 Valley View Blvd. Altoona, Pa, died at 4:20 AM, Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center after an extended illness.

Mrs. Herbert was born in McKeesport, Pa on May 20, 1926, daughter of the late Dr. Robert and Clara (Englert) Barnes. She married Leonard J. Herbert May 5, 1946 in Baltimore, MD. He died October 16, 1998.

She retired January 20, 1999 as a senior companion at Home Nursing Agency Altoona with 7 years of service. She previously worked at Krsege 5 & 10 Cent Store for 10 years.

She was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona, Pa.

Jean was a 1944 graduate of Murraysville High School. She was a member of Nocturnal Adoration Society, Third Order Secular, Altar & Rosary Society and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed cooking and gourmet Foods.

She is survived by 2 sons David E. Herbert, of Grand Rapids, MI and Dale P. (wife Carol) Herbert of Lancaster, NY. She is also survived by 4 grandsons and 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. Herbert was preceded in death by a son Dennis M. Herbert in 1953, 2 sisters Roberta Wissinger and Virginia Murphy and a bother Ray E. Barnes.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, Pa.

Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.

Friends will be received from 9:00 – 10:00 AM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Jones Funeral Home.
