Mr. John Joseph "Jack" Douglass, 78, of Altoona, Pa, died at 5:05 AM, Thursday, October 22, 2015 at his home,after an extened illness.
Mr. Douglass was born in Altoona, Pa on October 11,1937, son of the late Edward F. and Mary C. (Yingling) Douglass. He married Colleen A. Riggleman on May 27, 1978 at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Altoona.
He retired on August 31, 1999 as a maintainence man at SKF Industries, Inc. Altoona with 40 years of service.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church Altoona, Pa.
Jack was a 1955 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood and Froshinn Singing Society. He enjoyed building model airplanes, gardening, walking, hunting, fishing and was an avid Notre Dame Fan.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a A03 during thr Korean War and received the Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by his wife and a daughter Kathleen A. (Fiance" Michael DeFrancesco) Douglass, of Altoona, a grandson Troy Joseph DeFrancesco, at home; and a bother Richard F. (Mary) Douglass, of Reisterstown, MD. Jack is also survived by 3 nieces, Laura Favilla, Pauline Rollins and Christina Redding. He was preceded in death by an uncle Joseph F. Douglass.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 26, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatime Catholic Church, Altoona.
Committal Rites and Military Honors will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona.
Friends will be received Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 4 - 7 PM at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
