John Duffy

Mr. John J. Duffy, 61, of Altoona, Pa, died at 11:40 AM, Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at UPMC – Altoona after a brief illness.

Mr. Duffy was born in Altoona, Pa on November 17, 1958, son of the late Clair E. and Barbara L. (Yetsko) Duffy. He married Paula J. Tetanich October 19, 1991 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

He was Controller at Grannas Bothers Stone & Asphalt Co. Inc. Hollidaysburg, Pa with 14 years of service. He previously was Controller at Boyer Candy, Penn Jacobson and US Foods.

He was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona, Pa.

John was a 1976 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School, Robert Morris College with a Bachelors Degree and St. Francis University with a MBA. He was a member of TKE Brotherhood Fraternity at Robert Morris College and Sinking Valley Country Club. John was a Basketball Coach at McNelis Elementary School, BGHS Boys Freshman Basketball Team and also coached Juniata Gap Boys basketball and Flag Football. He was a Basketball Official.

He is survived by his wife and a son John P. (girlfriend Sydney Ball) Duffy, of Altoona, Pa; 3 Siblings Michael J. (Kimberly) Duffy, Barbara C. “Toots” Rhoa, and Patrick T. (Darlene) Duffy all of Altoona, Pa. John is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 27, 2020 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, with Msgr. Stanley Carson officiating.

Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.

Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held at 1:45 PM.
