Karen L. Kasner, 74, Altoona, died Monday at her residence after a brief illness. She was born in San Francisco, Calif., daughter of the late Tom and Elsie (Kirkland) Orr.
She married Thomas A. Kasner on May 18, 1996, in Poway, Calif.
She retired in 2012 as an executive secretary at W.S. Lee, Altoona, with 10 years of service.
Karen was a Christian.
She was a 1968 graduate of Balboa High School in San Francisco, Calif., and attended college for two years.
She enjoyed quilting, George Strait, The Wizard of Oz, crafting, scrapbooking and working with her husband at the Neil Armstrong Planetarium of Altoona Area High School and Mountain Lion Observatory at Fort Roberdeau.
Karen is survived by her husband; a son, Brett T. (Becca) Christensen of Kirkland, Wash.; a sister, Kathy VanWinkle in Arizona; three stepsiblings: Thomas Kevin Kasner, Thomas Kristofer Kasner and Mary Kristen Kasner; two grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Orr.
There will be no public visitation or services.
Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, Altoona.
