Kathleen Gemmill Rosenberry

Kathleen Gemmill Rosenberry, 82, Altoona, died on Monday, October 9, 2023 succumbing to the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Stewartstown, the daughter of Norman and Ruth (Keesey) Gemmill. Kathy is survived by her three sons, Britt (Danna), Chris (Kimberly), and Doug (Jen); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, brother Reg Gemmill and sister Norma Alcock. A graduate of Grove City College, Kathy moved to the Altoona area in 1968, eventually starting a more than three-decade career working in the physical therapy department at Mercy Hospital/Bon Secours. She single-handedly raised three boys, carting them all from sporting event to sporting event from the earliest days of Central Blair Recreation Commission seasons through Altoona Mountain Lion seasons. An accomplished athlete herself, Kathy took part in local women’s softball leagues, playing for the state champion Blair Candy team. Her enthusiasm for sports and love for her children and grandchildren were evident as she was a stalwart presence in the stands and on the sidelines of many a football, wrestling, baseball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball contest. Kathy also had a love of music, which she expressed through her involvement in the Altoona Chapter of Sweet Adelines International. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 3:30 p.m., First Church of Christ, 113 Good Shepherd Road, Altoona.
