Linus F. Johnston

Linus F. Johnston, 93, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Midtown Oaks Health & Rehab Center, formerly the Altoona Center for Nursing. Born March 29, 1930, Dean, son of the late Harry and Henrietta (Plunket) Johnston. Linus was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He married the former Jean D’Ottivo on June 30, 1956 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Lilly, she preceded him in death on November 4, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary and Rita Johnston; and Theresa Pfeffer; and brothers, Robert, Albert, Joseph, Clarence, Regis, Edgar, Alfred and John “Jack” Johnston. Linus was a 1950 graduate of Cresson Joint High School. He worked for 17 years at Vincent-Horwitz Shoe Factory; Penn Central, now Hite Electric for 4 years; and 14 years at Proctor-Silex until his retirement. Linus enjoyed woodworking and going to Leighty’s Flea Market. Member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament where a funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 14, 2023 at 10 a.m., Msgr. Stanley Carson celebrant. At Linus’ request there will be no public visitation. Committal Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
