Louis Walton Lll

Louis S. “Stocky” Walton III, 70, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Altoona, died Friday, April 2, 2021, in Florida. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Louis S. Jr. and Mary Jane (Fisher) Walton, and was raised in Hollidaysburg.

Surviving are his wife, Susan (Gordon), of Sarasota, Fla.; his beloved children, Olivia Jane of Chicago, Ill., and Sean Robert of Altoona; and their mother, Melanie Walton (David) Lee. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Dr. Michael Saltzburg and Dr. David Mauro, both of Florida; sister-in-law, Anne (Kenny) Macklin of Altoona; several nieces and nephews; and life-long friend, Jamie Powers of Hollidaysburg.

In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen (Helsel); and sisters, Wendy Saltzburg and Rebecca Mauro Wheeler.

Louis was a 1969 graduate of The Hill School in Pottstown, a 1972 graduate of Dickinson College and 1974 graduate of St. Mary’s School of Law. He was a member of the PA State Bar Association, first joining his father in his law practice. After his father’s passing, he opened Family Vision & Hearing with his brother-in-law, David Mauro, before re-opening his law practice in 1992, specializing in Workers’ Compensation until his retirement in 2012.

Stocky enjoyed playing golf, achieving the coveted hole-in-one on the 13th hole at Scotch Valley Country Club on Oct. 3, 1992.

He enjoyed performing arts both locally and in Sarasota, Fla., serving as head usher at the Sarasota Van Wetzel Theatre for Performing Arts. He enjoyed Penn State football games, biking and running. Stocky loved living in Florida and recently obtained his captain’s license to further enjoy his love of boating and fishing.

Most of all, Stocky was a proud and loving father, and his happiest moments were those spent with his children. He cherished the trips abroad with his daughter, Olivia, and the special times spent with his son, Sean. His philosophy was “Family Comes First.”

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the First Presbyterian Church, 601 Walnut St., Hollidaysburg, with Pastor Janine McElwee-Smith presiding. COVID-19 restrictions of MASKS and SOCIAL DISTANCING will be required.
