M. Elizabeth Burkholder

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Burkholder, 95 of Hollidaysburg, Pa died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Burkholder was born in Indianapolis, In on February 17, 1921, daughter of the late Dr. Gustave Robert and Margaret (Noonan) Pons. She married Thomas H. Burkholder September 26, 1942 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. He died July 4, 2006.

Betty retired as Co - Founder/Owner of Burkholder's Antiques, Frankstown, Hollidaysburg, Pa.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.

Mrs. Burkholder graduated from Altoona Catholic High School in 1938 and the Altoona School of Commerce in 1941. She was a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Spade and Garden Club, Hollidaysburg Women's Club, St. Mary's Mother's Club and Alpha Sorority. Betty enjoyed history and was a avid reader.

Betty is survived by 3 children Thomas E. (Anna) Burkholder, of Hollidaysburg, Pa; Elizabeth Kennedy and partner Paul Greiner, of San Ramon, CA; and Louise Burkholder and Kevin Suckling her husband and best friend; a sister Catherine Smith of Ocala, FL; Mrs. Burkholder was reised in the home of Edward and Rachel Wahl. She is survived by two granddaughters, Amy (Tom) Lantz and Jane Burkholder.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 9, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, with Fr. Antyhony Legarski officiating.

Committal Rites will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Friends will be received from 4 - 7 PM Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Jones Funeral Home where a vigil for the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
