Mildred Turner

Mrs. Mildred Hawkins Turner, 95, of Altoona, Pa, died at 2:30 PM, Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Maybrook Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.

Mrs. Turner was born in Spartanburg, SC on November 23, 1923, daughter of the late Frank Joe and Luzon (Lussardi) Hawkins. She married Ralph McMillan Turner, September 13, 1941 in Landrum, SC. He preceded her in death October 1988.

She retired in 1990 as a Supervisor of Quality Control at Warnaco Altoona, Pa with 21 years of service.

Mildred was of the Presbyterian Faith.

Mrs. Turner was a 1941 graduate of Spartanburg High School and received an Associate Degree in 2003, graduating with her granddaughter Gretchen in computer studies from Penn State. She enjoyed cooking, baking, making candy, leather goods, painting pottery, computer work and Fackbook.

She is survived by 2 sons Ralph Turner, of Phoenixville, Pa and James Marshall (Jack) Turner of Spartanburg, SC. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, and one bother Volney D. Hawkins, She is also survived by a number of very dear and loving nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by 3 children Robert Frank Turner, Steven Gray Turner and Barbara Elaine Turner and 4 siblings J.R. Hawkins, Frank Hawkins Jr, Elnora Hawkins Wells, Barber Hawkins.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at Jones Funeral Home, Altoona, Pa at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 6, 2019 with Chaplin Rebecca Shuster officiating.

Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Spartanburg, SC Spartanburg, SC

Friends will be received Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Jones Funeral Home.
