Mr. Raymond Frederick, 91, of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, died at 12:15 AM, Sunday, September 3, 2017 at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
Mr. Frederick was born in Sinking Valley, Altoona, on March 4, 1926, son of the late John B. and Clara (Pielmeier) Frederick. He married Alice J. Heim August 4, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona. She preceded him in death August 15, 1993.
He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona. He will be remembered as a gentle soul who walked humbly with his God.
Raymond, like many of his generation, had a strong work ethic. After retiring from Calvary Cemetery as a Supervisor Groundskeeper, he continued there as a seasonal employee until the age of 88.
He had "green" thumb and enjoyed working in his garden, mowing lawns and trimming hedges for family and friends. In his later years, he especially enjoyed Friday morning breakfasts with his grandson. He liked joking with the wait staff at local restaurants and the caring staff at the Lutheran Home. He appreciated every small gesture of kindness from other.
Surviving are his daughter, Carolyn and son-in-law 'Charles' Becker, two devoted grandchildren, Julie (Tyke) Dodson of East Freedom and Keith Becker of Altoona; two great-grandsons, Zachary and Benjamin Dodson of East Freedom; a bother, Herman (Ruth Ann) Frederick, a sister, Florence (Paul) Perrin, and bother-in-law Jacob Spahn, allof Altoona, and numerous nieces and nephews. he was preceded i death by two sister and a brother-in-law, Marie (Charles) Tremmel, Arlene Spahn and nephew Timothy J. Spahn Sr.
Raymond was a wonderful Dad, father-in-law, Pap and Pappy Frederick to his family. He will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wendesday, September 6, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona, Pa with Msgr. Timothy Stein and Msgr. Michael Becker Concelebrants.
Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery Altoona, Pa.
Friends will be received from 4-7 PM Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
