Richard K. (Koch) "Dick" Anthony, 70, 01 Brandywine Terrace, Rochester, N.Y., died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at Hildebrandt Hospice Center, Rochester, N.Y., after a strong, multi-year fight against cancer.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert W. and Mary E. (Koch) Anthony.
Surviving are three sons: Richard J. (Christina) Anthony of Dayton, Ohio, Thomas F. (Jennifer) Anthony of Rochester, N.Y., and Steven R. (Krista) Anthony of Deer Park, N.Y.; three grandchildren: Joan, James and Amelia; 10 siblings: Robert W. (Rosemary) Anthony Jr. of Duncansville, Mary Elizabeth (Nicholas) Bruno of Summerville, N.C., Susan Crouse of Altoona, William (Deborah) Anthony of Hollidaysburg, Dorothy (David) Berger of Altoona, Joseph W. (Sandy) Anthony of Altoona, David F. Anthony of Kirkland, Wash., Gertrude K. Anthony of Philadelphia, John T. (Cindy) Anthony of Altoona and Sarah M. "Sally" (Edward) Franklin of Altoona; many nieces and nephews; and four special friends: Dale and Bonnie Belkamp and Lee and Eileen Fitch.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James "Boog" Anthony; and a brother-in-law, Bill Crouse.
Dick was a 1964 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School, Altoona, where he lettered for four years playing football and later coached Cathedral Grade School football. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. In 2009, he retired as a loan officer in Rochester, N.Y., with 38 years of service.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rochester, N.Y., where he served as a confirmation teacher, Eucharistic minister and church volunteer. He was also a past member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.
Dick was a loving father, grandfather and brother who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He valued his faith in God and family above all else. He enjoyed trips to the beach, family bike rides, playing cards, coaching and attending Syracuse games.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held during the visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at the Cathedral, Father Dennis Kurdziel as celebrant. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, Altoona.
