Richard Schleich Jr.

Richard Frank "Doc" Schleich Jr. 74, of Veterans Home, Duncansville, Pa. died at 7:55 AM, Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, after an extended illness.

Mr. Schleich Jr. was born in Altoona, Pa. on January 24, 1941, son of the late Richard Frank and Virginia Mae (Long) Schleich Sr. He married Laura J. Luci April 23, 1966 in Winchester, VA.

He retired in 1992 as a Captain at City of Altoona Fire Department with 24 years of service.

He was of the Merthodist Faith.

Richard was a 1959 greduate of Altoona High School and he attended West Palm Beach Community College, West Palm Beach FL. He enjoyed his family and friends, hunting with his golden retreivers,fishing, watching boxing, especially Mohammad Ali and football.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a FN in the Vietnam War.

In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 sons David E. (Wendy) Schleich, of Somerset, Pa. Richard Frank (Robin) Schleich lll, of Altoona, Pa. and Mark Allen (Michelle) Schleich, of Miami Lakes, FL. "Doc" is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Jaime, Emily, Savannah, Justin, Dylan, Adrianna, Cameron, Sophia, Ava, Katie and Carly and a great grandaughter Brooklyn. He was the last of his immediate faimly.

A Religious Service will be held at 7:30 PM, Monday, March 16, 2015 at Jones Funeral Home, Altoona, Pa. at 7:30 PM on Monday, March 16,2015 with Rev. Paul Johnson and Rev. Charles Stump officiating.

Friends will be received Monday, March 16, 2015 from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM at Jones Funeral Home.
