Robert T. “Dewey” Thompson, 85, Selingsgrove, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 at UPMC Harrisburg. Born March 28, 1939, Newry, son of the late Eugene and Edith (Leonard) Thompson. Survived by his loving wife, Eleanor (Saska) Thompson, whom he married in November of 1978; sons, Brian (Angela) of New York; Robert and Greg; daughter, Robin, all of Maryland; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Barnes and Rita Rightnour; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Brett; and 9 siblings, Audrey, Roger, Raymond, Francis, Paul, Joseph, James, Eugene, and Donald. Robert owned his own electrical business, Thompson Electric in Washington, DC, working in various federal buildings. He was an avid fisherman of the Susquehanna and Potomac Rivers. Robert enjoyed nature and always kept the feeders on his porch well-stocked for the squirrels and birds. He loved watching sports, especially the Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Steelers. Most importantly, Robert cherished spending time with his family and friends. At his request, there will be no viewing. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 1 p.m., St. Patrick Catholic Church, 704 Patrick Lane, Newry, Fr. Allen P. Zeth celebrant. Private burial at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, An Anderson Family Firm, 1222 13th Avenue, Altoona. Condolences may be made at JonesFHAltoona.com.
