Mrs. Rose M. Ciavarella, 84, of Altoona, died at 7:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2017 at her residence, after an extended illness. Rose was fondly know as "Skippy" "Babe" and "Twiss".
Mrs. Ciavarella was born in Glen White, Pa on August 19, 1933, daughter of the late Joseph and Ross (Burick) Plutko. She married Michael J. Ciavarella February 18, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Coupon, Pa. He died December 25, 2009.
She was a Day Care Provider at the Former McNelis Grade School with 15 years of service. Previously, Rose worked at Vincent Horowitz Shoe Factory.
She was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona, Pa.
Rose attended Edison School. She loved her home, watching EWTN Rosary/Mass and "The Price is Right" on TV and playing her Lottery Tickets.
She is survived by a son John F. Plutko of Altoona, three grandchidren Gregory J. Jennifer J. and Stephanie R. Plutko and 4 great grandchildren Raina, Olivia, Dylan and Madelyn and soon to be born baby boy. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph and 4 siblings Joseph G. Stephen P. Francis J. "Moose" Plutko and Margaret M."Dood" Della.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, with Msgr. Robert C. Mazur officiating.
Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery Altoona, Pa.
Friends will be received Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 5-8 PM at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil For the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
