Rosemary Barcaro

Rosemary (Rodgers) Barcaro, 72, Altoona, died Saturday at her residence.

She was born in New Castle, daughter of the late Delmas and Gladys (Stevens) Rodgers. On Sept. 4, 1971, she married Albert G. Barcaro at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in New Castle, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1993.

Surviving are three children: Brian R. (Kristen) Barcaro of Altoona, Dana M. Romanini (fiance Tim Costea) of Port Matilda and Leah M. (Matthew) Kraft of Altoona; nine grandchildren: Sofia and Maddalena Barcaro, Brett and Molly Romanini, Ethan Costea, and Meghan, Anna, Nicholas, and Michael Kraft; a bother Gary Rodgers of McDonald, OH ; and a sister, Cristin Sochaki of Twinsburg, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three siblings: Delma Eroe, William Rodgers and Marjorie Rodgers.

Rosemary was a 1963 graduate of New Castle High School and Central Pennsylvania School of Massage. She retired as a teacher’s assistant for the Altoona Area School District with 19 years of service. She also was a licensed massage therapist.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona, where she was also a member of Sacred Heart Christian Mothers. She volunteered for the Sacred Heart Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels and for the Beagle Rescue.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at Jones Funeral Home, Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 1:45 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona, with Father Ananius Buccicone O.S.B., Father Lubomir Strecok and Monsignor Stanley Carson concelebrating. Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
