Ruth M. Novack

Ruth M. Novack, 91, Altoona, passed away, Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at UPMC Altoona. Born November 11, 1933 in Altoona, daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Trexler) Smith. Preceded in death by her loving husband, James M. Novack; son, John Novack; brothers, Charles, James, Thomas, Raymond, and Philip Smith; and sisters, Rita Meidl, Dorothy Smith, Mildred Stafford, and Mary Snowberger. She is survived by daughter, Ann (Steve) Treglia; sons, Edward Novack and James Novack II (Cathy Ventre); 5 grandchildren, Jon Novack (Amber Deyarmin), James Novack, Tyler Novack (Daniel Adams), Francesca Treglia (Benjamin Travers), and Alexandra (Giovanni) Mejias; 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Watson Novack; sister, Dolores Perkins; and brothers, George and William (Grace) Smith. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Mary Lysinger. Ruth loved having her family around her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed square dancing as a young woman, doing Word Find puzzles, birdwatching, working in her flower gardens when she could, and watching the Young & The Restless and Bold & Beautiful. For 30+ years, she managed the Bingo kitchen at St. Rose of Lima and was a member of Christian Mothers and past president of the Kittanning Trail Fire Company Auxiliary. Family and friends will be received Monday, December 16, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
