Sandra Cuzzolina

Sandra L. “Sandy” Cuzzolina, 71, Altoona, died Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William M. and Lois M. (Hostetler) Shaner. On Oct. 18, 1969, she married John F. Cuzzolina at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters: Angela M. Alianiello of Malvern and Antoinette M. Cuzzolina and husband, Timothy C. Detterbeck, of Annville; three grandchildren: Olivia, Ava and Anthony; two siblings: Gerald M. Shaner and Sharon E. (Steven) Reger, both of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews.

Sandy was a 1966 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School. She retired in 1995 as a food service worker at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, after 15 years of service. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona.

She enjoyed her family and grandchildren, her high school friends from BGHS, cooking and participating at Mass.

There will be no public visitation due to the COVID-19 virus. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family and a funeral Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
