Mr. Thomas J. Orr, 90 of 124 Peary Circle, Cresson, formerly of 1208 Jackson Avenue, Altoona died Wednesday morning, July 5, 2017 at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Orr was born in Pittsburgh on May 4, 1927, son of the Ralph Vincent and Florence Elia (Ward) Orr. He married Anna S. Sicher April 21, 1956 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Bethel Park, Pa.
Tom was a Merchandise Distributor at Bocovs Department Store, Altoona, Pa. Previously he worked at Firestone Tire and retired September 1991 with 39 years of service as store Manager at General Tire, Altoona.
He was a member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Altoona, where served as a Lector.
Tom was a 1945 graduate of Greenbrier Military School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Penn State University in 1953. He was a member of Lakemont Lions Club having served as President in 1985 and the Bavarian Aid Society. He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, tennis, golf and swimming.
He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force in WWll.
He is survived by his wife and 3 children Beverly A. Nardozza, of Altoona, Pa; Barbara M. Orr, of Lancaster, Pa; and Thomas V. (Brenda) Orr, of Cresson, Pa. Tom is also survived by 8 grandchildren Shauna (Steve) Polito, J.M (Julie) Nardozza, Rachael (Shawn) Bishop, Nick & Matt Ulmer, and Jamie, T.J. and Haley Orr and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Ralph W. Orr and 2 sisters Florence Jones and Marjorie Nicely.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, July 10, 2017 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, Pa with Msgr. Robert Mazur officiating.
Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona, Pa.
Friends will be received from 3 - 7 PM Sunday, July 10, 2017 at Jones Funeral Home where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held during the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Road, 2nd Floor, Team Mya's Miracle, Princeton N.J. 08540.
