Garrett Lee Anderson

President/Funeral Director

Garrett is the President, licensed funeral director, and licensed insurance representative at Jones Funeral Home, An Anderson Family Firm. Garrett was born on the base hospital in Okinawa, Japan as his dad was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps. He spent most of his childhood in Manheim, Lancaster County, PA before his father took a job in western Pennsylvania. He is a 2006 graduate of Purchase Line Junior-Senior High School, Indiana County, PA. He went on to attend Westminster College, located in New Wilmington, PA for two years before transferring to Thiel College, Greenville, PA. He graduated in 2010 majoring in Biology, with minor concentrations in Medical Biology and Business Administration. After graduating from Thiel College, Garrett continued his education at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science (PIMS) with intentions of becoming a Funeral Director. After graduating from PIMS, he completed his internship by working for a funeral home in Altoona. Afterward, Garrett worked in both Altoona and the Johnstown area as a licensed Funeral Director.

Garrett has over 14 years of experience to date in funeral service, and vows to serve the families of this area with the dignity and compassion that they deserve.

Garrett married Madison Kendera in June of 2012. Together, they have a son, Colt; three daughters, Davanee, Autumn & Jordyn; and a Weimaraner, Modi. They reside in Cresson. When he isn’t at the funeral homes, he enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, hunting, watching his favorite sports teams or working with his favorite charity, Operation Toy Soldier.

Garrett is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association (PFDA), Cresson Lions Club, Eastern Cambria County Chamber of Commerce, and the Son's of the American Legion Cresson Post 238, where he serves as the Vice Commander. He’s also a Board Director of Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona and assists the Blair County Coroner’s Office as a Deputy Coroner.

Robert M. Jones Jr. is the supervisor and a third-generation funeral director at Jones Funeral Home, An Anderson Family Firm. He married the former Margaret Jean McNealis and together they have four daughters, Ann Hammond and her husband Steve; Pam Kupchella and her husband Brian; Nicole Kimmel and her husband Toby; and Renee Dill and her husband Jeremy; and ten grandchildren. Bob is a 1963 graduate of the Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science and a 1965 graduate of St. Francis University in Loretto, PA.

Bob is a member of the Keystone Funeral Director Association, the Pennsylvania Funeral Director Association, and the National Funeral Director Association. He’s also involved in civic organizations, the Altoona Kiwanis, the Chairman of Buddy Club for the past 30 years, Treasure and Branch Coordinator of William Penn Association branch 0800, a past president of Altoona Jaycees, and a past member of several Boards of Directors. He has also received the Kiwanian of the year award.

He enjoys cars, hunting, fishing, his dogs Rocky, Sammy and Willie, gardening and the outdoors in general.

His mission as a funeral director is to serve his family as best as possible during the funeral and support them afterwards. Bob wants the Altoona and surrounding areas to know that when he does officially retire that they will be in good hands with Garrett. He is very thankful that Garrett will continue the legacy his family started over a century ago.

Carl attended Penn State University prior to attending the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and has been serving area families as a licensed funeral director for 25 years. He resides with his wife, Margi and youngest son, Chandler in Altoona. He is also the proud father of five other children: Kate, Claire, Nicole, Chris, and Brandon; and grandfather of Ryan and Michaela. Carl enjoys spending time with family, friends, hunting, and fishing. He is a certified crematory operator, and funeral pre-planning professional, and is committed to serving families with the utmost dignity and compassion during their time of need and beyond.

Rob joined the Jones Funeral Home in 2004 and became a member of the Anderson Family Funeral Homes team when the funeral home was acquired by Garrett Anderson in 2023. Rob was raised in Alum Bank and the son of Robert Gohn Sr. and Lillian V. Kiser. He was raised by his grandmother, Virgie Gohn in his younger years. Rob married Todd Hiquet on May 6, 2017 and they currently reside in Altoona with their three dogs, Great Dan, Quest; Terrier Mix, Janet and Chrissy; and their cat, Jack. He has two daughters, Shayna Gohn and Emily Drobnoek; 8 grandchildren, Alex, Miley, Madison, Hanna, Isaiah, Noah, Mackenzie, Emma and Ryla; three brothers, Roger, Michael & Christian; and three sisters, Christine, Meredith and Tammy. Rob graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1989. He is a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Hollidaysburg. Rob enjoys the outdoor life, camping, hunting and spending time at his Koi Pond. Most importantly, he appreciates helping anyone that needs it when time allows.

Heath joined the Anderson Family Funeral Homes team at the end of 2019. He was born and raised in Mount Union and graduated from Mount Union Area High School in 2008. After high school he attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania where he received his bachelor's degree in Political Science in 2012. After a calling into funeral service, he attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science completing his degree in 2022. Heath is married to Paige R. (Lancaster) Himes. Together they have a son, Henry and have a Welsh Corgi named Winston. When Heath isn’t serving families he enjoys golf, fishing, playing guitar and spending time with family and friends. He is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, a certified Crematory Operator with the Cremation Association of North America, F&AM Lodge #688, Mount Union Borough Councilman, and Board Director of Monroe Valley Cemetery.

Jayme joined the Anderson Family Funeral Homes team in a full-time capacity in May of 2022. Jayme’s family is from the Franklin, Fulton, and Southern Huntingdon County areas. Jayme is the son of Jeffery and Pastor Julia Piper. He graduated from Penns Valley Area High School in 2005. After high school he attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in the Social Work Department. Jayme and his wife Hannah currently reside in the Mapleton Depot area along with there 2 dogs: Great Dane, Taya and Beagle mix, Remi. When Jayme isn’t serving at our funeral homes he enjoys fishing, hunting, going to the races, and spending time with family and friends. He has enjoyed over the years of being in Mount Union as well as other areas volunteering with youth groups and multiple other volunteer organizations. He is currently attending the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science to obtain his degree in funeral service.

Mary joined the Anderson Family Funeral Homes team in August of 2022. She was raised in Cresson and is the daughter of James and Marie. Mary has two brothers, Robert and Travis; and two cats, Binx and Winnie. She graduated from Penn Cambria High School in 2010. After high school, she attended Mount Aloysius College, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 2014. Mary worked for the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home and Primary Health Network. Ever since she was young, Mary had a calling for funeral service and is currently attending the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science to complete her degree. Mary enjoys walking, working out, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.
